Dancing with the problem.

Work doesn’t not stay neatly contained in the box we attempt to fit it in.

In the long run, it permeates our soul as much as it permeates our minds in the short term.

We grapple with problems and challenges, the gap between solving the current problem and meeting the next one, on a daily basis. Our job is to fill the gap.

At first, we may look upon the gaping hole with a tilted head, a puzzled look and an overwhelming sense of frustration. Why haven’t I solved this? I swear this is the same as all the other similar situations I have encountered…

Grappling with puzzling situations is key, and the frustration is necessary, to acquiring the right information, to adapting our practices and to the creation of small seismic shifts in our thinking.

I am regularly overcome by the simmering sensation of resistance taking over. It is so easy to deny our trials by ignoring them, resisting them and cursing them.

What if ‘problems’ were only mental points of focus? What if there is no such things as a problem; rather there is only a situation we are resisting, a mistake we can’t face or an outcome we are denying.

What if the only thing that fills the gap is knowledge; knowledge that is solely acquired through having a point of focus and the necessary time to meet the demands of a task?

If this is the case, (and I think that it is) then I shall not grapple with problems but dance with them. I will hold on tightly as I am being spun around the dance floor before being thrown onto another partner; another problem. The solutions? The answers; they are only revealed by the unravelling rhythm of the music. The beat of time, and divulging lyrical information.
